Care Tips During Pregnancy
Congratulations on your pregnancy! Before you is the journey of a lifetime. Once pregnancy is achieved and after predicting baby gender, it is important to maintain healthy practices throughout the three trimesters of pregnancy in order to ensure optimal health for the pregnant woman and her unborn baby. Below is a list of some of the common care tips that are suggested to maintain healthiness throughout pregnancy.
Care Tip 1 - Nutrition and Diet
Women are not, in fact, eating for two when they are pregnant. This is a common myth that contributes to too much food being consumed during pregnant. Women actually only require about 300 extra calories during the course of their pregnancy. This small amount of calories is easy to achieve by simply eating a piece of toast and a piece of fruit. When eating during pregnancy, it is important to have the calories count. Try not to consume empty calories from junk food and sweets. It is ideal to choose whole grains whenever possible. Include protein at every meal. Make sure to get plenty of folic acid in the diet from food or a multivitamin. Folic acid reduces the chances of neural-tube defects. Eat as many fruits and vegetables as you possible can.
Care Tip 2 - Exercise and Activity
Moderate exercise is important to maintain at least 3 days a week. If exercising was not part of a routine prior to pregnancy and predicting baby gender, start slow during pregnancy. If running and vigorous activities we commonly performed prior to pregnancy, it is okay to continue. Make sure to obtain a doctor/midwife approval. Exercise will ensure that a reasonable amount of weight is gained and will help prepare for labor.
Care Tip 3 - No Alcohol, Smoking or Drugs
These substances are so incredibly dangerous and harmful to the unborn fetus. Stay away if at all possible. Drinking alcohol during pregnancy, especially in the first trimester, can lead to Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder. If you are able, try to stop drinking and smoking prior to conceiving and predicting baby gender.
Care Tip 4 - Ample Rest and Fatigue
Since the pregnant body is working overtime to produce another human being, a lot of energy will be channeled from the mother to the fetus. The result will be fatigue. As the pregnancy progress, a woman will have a harder time sleeping due to feeling uncomfortable from an enlarged belly and frequent urination. Therefore, it is critical for a pregnant woman to conserve her energy and give herself ample rest in whatever form is best suited to her.
